What is General Assistance?

A short-term safety net when between jobs or during illness.

A financial aid program for those who are not qualified for categorical assistance (state or federally funded aid).

How Do I Qualify for Assistance?

Eligibility for aid is generally based on financial income and resources available.

In addition to being a resident of Belvidere Township, information regarding you and your family, financial status, and registration with the Department of Employment Security will need to be provided.

How Do I Apply for Assistance?

Call Belvidere Township to have an application mailed to you or stop by the office during office hours.

Complete the application and return it to the township office. Be sure to bring your Illinois Driver's License or Identification Card and Social Security Card. Also any other documents required on the application.

Township Supervisor and caseworker must review the application and forms before an appointment can be set up. After all have been reviewed an appointment can be set up. We do not take walk-ins. Our office number is 815-544-2027.
